Haiti Appeal

We have just received this email from Martin Snoddon, a student with the Northern School of NLP and man for whom I have great respect.

The mail speaks for itself and if you feel moved to respond you have the thanks of all involved.

Dear All

Ref. Haiti appeal:

Last October I was invited to Haiti to deliver a series of workshops with people from Port au Prince, these workshops were sponsored by a partnership between Glencree Peace & Reconciliation Centre, Ireland, and Concern Worldwide, Haiti local office.  I worked with three different groups, each group had approximately 20 members and during my time there I met quite a number of other Haitian people.  The Glencree and Concern partnership had reached out and connected with many more Haitians in its efforts to support a transition to peace.

We know from limited communications with Haiti this past week that a number of those people have not survived the earthquake, others are still on the missing list and some have had miraculous escapes.  The international media coverage has highlighted the destruction of life and property that has resulted from the quake.

Glencree has now set up an appeal for donations to support the people of Haiti, primarily to survive the immediate consequences of the quake.  As the direct lines of communication have been established with the poor in the slums and through these channels their needs are clearly being identified, this appeal will directly support the people in whats left of the slums.  There will be no administration costs for managing this appeal and all monies raised will benefit those in need.

I know a lot of people will have already made donations.  For those who have yet to donate I would encourage you to direct your support to the Glencree appeal, details below.  For those who have already given I applaud you.  Remember this is a hugely poverty riddled zone, so a little financial support can make such a difference.

thank you
martin

Glencree has established a Haiti Emergency Fund to raise funds to assist the people in the slums of Martissant and St Martin put their communities and their lives together again.

Glencree invites you to consider making a donation to this fund and thanks to those in governance positions within the organisation the fund as it opened has already got more than €1,000 in it. As well as making a donation some of you may wish to consider hosting an event such as a dinner party, coffee morning, or quiz, where additional funds can be raised. To help our friends in Haiti and to make a donation please see details below:

the Allied Irish Bank (AIB) is 100\101 Grafton Street, Dublin 2

For international money transfers, I have found it is best to ’send’ the money in euros, otherwise AIB may charge to accept and exchange the currency.
